The Civil Society Groups of Good Governance (CSGGG) has called for Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, to step aside pending investigation into allegations of perjury and false representation.
The coalition claims Kalu may have breached the NYSC Act and Nigerian Law School rules by attending both institutions simultaneously, citing overlapping service and study periods from March 2010 to July 2011.
The CSGGG demands clarity from Kalu, NYSC, and the Nigerian Law School, citing potential violations of the 1999 Constitution and the NYSC Act.

“The controversy surrounds Kalu’s NYSC service year (March 9, 2010 – March 8, 2011) and his attendance at the Nigerian Law School (April 23, 2010 – July 1, 2011). Kalu allegedly swore oaths to both institutions, declaring he wouldn’t engage in employment or NYSC service during his Law School studies”.
