Purposeful Leadership remains the overwhelming yearnings of the people. This is because it is meant to address all sundry issues and challenges, and to pave way to a sane society where leaders take responsibility to fix societal issues and make the society a better place to live in. Also, with public office holders as heads of institutions in trust for the citizenry, the institutions will work better to achieve greater goals. This is one significant thing that caught our attention with respect to FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) administration.
Where FCT-VIO was and where it is right now indicates a sound and purpose -driven leadership since the Director assumed office in 2022. Thus, the Initiative for Leadership and Economic Watch in Nigeria cannot be taken for granted, considering the Director’s immense contributions towards it. The Director deserves applause and commendation for the feat achieved so far in FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS). On this note, we Dr. Abdul-lateef Bello officially communicate our positive heartfelt appreciation towards his leadership posture, and to notify him of our noble intention to present to him the Initiative for Leadership and Economic Watch in Nigeria, CSOs, OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE AWARD in recognition of his transparent and accountable leadership in the FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS).
We wholeheartedly salute the decision of the Honourable Minister of the FCT to have appointed a highly spirited, dynamic, energetic, creative, intelligent and experienced administrator like Dr. Abdul-lateef Bello, as Director, FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS). It is a right step in the right direction. We share in the belief that this singular act has made the FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) great again, engendering new narratives, showcasing core professionalism, selflessness and outright commitment to the goals and mandate of the Directorate, which will make the Federal Capital Territory Administration to achieve its desired expectations.
Arising from the foregoing, the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), which cuts across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Friday 11th May, 2023, honoured the Director, Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), Dr. Abdul-lateef Bello, with an award for his outstanding performance as a public office holder.
Amb. Splendour Agbonkpolor, Executive Director, initiative for Leadership and Economic Watch in Nigeria, led the group to the Director for the presentation of the award. He said that the award was geared towards motivating others to follow suit.
According to Agbonkpolor, this is to motivate others to do more to improve the system when they are appointed to serve the public. He said the CSOs, as conscience organization, were compelled by Dr. Bello’s outstanding performance to honour him with such a deserving award.
He described Dr. Bello, as a transparent and accountable leader, who had strengthened DRTS, to perform maximally in bringing to bear a transformative and purposeful leadership. This, he said, had earned Dr. Bello the nomination and endorsement of CSOs in the country for such a unique award.
He said the CSOs’ outstanding leadership performance award was put together by the collective decision of over 400 Civil Society Organisations across the 36 States and the FCT. This, according to him, was what made it priceless and golden to receive, adding that it is a great and prestigious honour. The presentation of the award of honour was witnessed by some reputable CSO delegates to spur excellence in service and promote dignity in labour.
